Fat Is A Matter Of Too Much Junk Food

There’s a huge problem with obesity in the United States, and it’s a problem that’s only getting worse as the years go on.

The rise started in the early 1980s, but it’s gotten worse and worse over the years.

These days, it’s estimated that one out of every three adults in the United States is morbidly obese.

Due to this fact, there’s a number of fad diets out on the market that promise to help you lose weight fast. Unfortunately, these diets all dance around the real problem, making the solution seem more simplistic than it really is.

They’ll point to fat, or carbs, or some other specific nutrient intake as the source of all the problems.

The real truth is more complicated than that. The real truth involves a combination of genetics, and the way the human brain responds to processed foods.

Junk Food, Leptin Resistance, And The Human Brain

There was a time in which the standard meal was cooked at home, out of fresh ingredients. Even when the ingredients were canned or jarred, they weren’t nearly as processed as they are now. In some ways, processed foods is a great thing. It allows for foods to be sold cheaper, and to last longer. Those are good things.

The lack of nutritional value in our foods these days causes the human brain to trigger in a way it’s not really supposed to be triggering.

Under normal circumstances, food triggers the hypothalamus, which regulates a number of body systems. One of those body systems is appetite and fat storage.

Natural, healthy foods trigger the hypothalamus and cause it to release leptin, which is a hormone that tells our body that we’re full. This allows our brain to trigger the proper digestive functions, which in turn help burn the fat stores properly.

Unfortunately, that’s not how it works with too much junk food. Heavily processed foods lack the nutritional substance to trigger the hypothalamus properly. Because the hypothalamus isn’t triggered properly, it doesn’t release enough leptin.

Not only that, but the leptin that does get released tends to get ignored by the rest of the body. This results in leptin resistance, which in turn causes our brain to think we’re starving.

If you’ve ever felt hungry no matter how much food you’ve eaten, you know what it’s like to be suffering from leptin resistance.

This is why too much junk food causes us to be fat. It’s not a matter of carbs, nor is it a simple matter of fat. These things are involved, certainly, but it’s simply more complicated than that.

Obesity is a matter of how our brain works and functions, and how various foods trigger our hormonal balance.

The increase in processed foods causes our brains to function improperly, which in turn causes us to retain fat at a higher rate than we should. Thus, if you want to lose weight, you need to cut out the processed foods.
